You arrive at Kavieng by Air Niugini jet and it's a 20 minute scenic drive along the coastal highway in our TreeHouse transport to the beach front TreeHouse Village EcoResort

The tropical surroundings will inspire you to appreciate the exotic flora & fauna, observe the Melanesian village life or just relax and read that book you planned to do. If you want to get physical there is an eclectic selection of sporting activities, wilderness trips or cultural events available.

The first floor of the main TreeHouse is starts at 6 meters up amongst the large knurled limbs of a 200 year old native hardwood tree. It has the balcony, dining area and bar. On arrival you will be welcomed  by our friendly Melanesian staff.

Meals are served in the TreeHouse over looking the Pacific Ocean and resort, on the beach or delivered to your Bungalow. Breakfast & lunch is available and the evening dinner is selected from our tropical buffet. Tropical reef lobster, mangrove crab and fresh deep sea snapper are regularly on the menu and we occasionally have a traditional Mumu. Our fruit & vegetables are grown organically in the village gardens and we shop at the local market daily. We also cater for selective tastes so please advise us in advance if you have any special food preferences.

Storm Swells Report ---- Dec 2008

From Tuesday 9th Dec. up to Monday 15th Dec. 2008 we are experiencing predicted high spring tides and larger than normal surges. The folks at the weather office told us that it is because of the La Nina effect. The surfers are working the waves which were predicted since the 7th Dec.

The effect at the TreeHouse Bay has been occasional surges of a few centimeters high washing over the sand under the bungalows. This has brought in some flotsam and jetsam. The steps on some bungalows are now being replaced as the sand was washed from under them. There are a few logs to be removed but other wise cleanup is in progress and we are operating as normal.

Some of the village communities along the New Ireland coast that are more exposed to the swells than us, have have had their bush material buildings knocked down so they have relocated to higher ground. Some places have had actual erosion of the coral foreshore. Tench Island has all the people relocated to Emirau Island.
